Habits: 21 Days of Repetitive Motion

28 Jan

Hello all,

I wanted to first talk about something that affects most of us and that is Holiday weight gain. No matter how strong your willpower is there is something about the holidays that is just prone to making it easy to pack on the pounds. This year was particularly hard for me.

First my husband came home. That was such a gift and I was so happy to finally have him home after six months of being apart. So it was safe to say I was going to splurge a little bit. Well right after that came Christmas and New Years and boy was it Christmas at the office. My boss brought all the goodies, everyday for about 2 weeks. Then Eric and I went home. For 2 weeks. Something about being home with family makes me want to eat the way I used to which is bad. And then it was my birthday. But not just any birthday, My 21st birthday! I think that is completely self-explanitory. SO needless to say, Ive been off track for far too long.

Which has lead me to an almost 5 lb weight gain. Not at all the direction I wanted to be heading. So with that I knew that I really needed to put it in high gear if I want to lose some serious pounds this year.

I am going to do a 21-day habit forming cleanse. It is not going to be a traditional clense with crazy drink only meals and such, but rather I am going to kick off my healthy lifestyle refocus with 21 days of being completely on track. It is said that it takes 21 days to create habits, so I need to really focus for that long until it no longer feels like I am consciously making these decisions but that they are second nature to me. Now what does that mean to me? Well, I will tell you.

  • Clean Eating. No processed junk, no “fried” foods, no garbage. Just all natural whole foods in the most basic form that I can get it.
  • Going to the gym. At least 6 days a week. This will be easy as my husband has to get up at 4:30 every morning to go to work so I am just going to have him wake me up and go in the morning. Then I just have to get to the gym 1 time over the weekend. That should be easy.
  • No cheating. Now I want to verify what I mean by cheating. I think that having a happy meal is a huge cheat. However, I don’t believe having a glass of organic wine at night once during the week is a cheat. Ice cream, cheat. Blended banana “ice cream,” not a cheat. You see where this is going.

So this is the plan for the next three weeks. I also wanted to do an official weigh-in so that I can keep track of my progress. I weighed in at 189.4 this morning. YIKES! We gotta get out of these dreaded 180’s. I can do this, I am worth it! ❤
